Opinion Dynamics on Networks

From the spreading of diseases and memes to the development ofopinions and social influence, dynamical processes are influenced heavilyby the networks on which they occur. In this talk, I'll discuss the socialinfluence and opinion 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó on networks. I'll present a few types of91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó --- including threshold 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó of social contagions, voter 91ÃÛÌÒ¸óthat coevolve with network structure, and bounded-confidence 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó withÌýcontinuous-valued opinions --- and illustrate how such processes areaffected by the networks on which they occur. I'll also connect these91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó to opinion polarization and the development of echo chambers inonline social networks.
