Graduate Student Dental Insurance

ճGraduate Student Dental Insurance Planis available to students on full external fellowships or those with a graduate appointment of20% or greater(RA/TA/GA or GPTI only), regardless of their medical insurance coverage (CU Anthem Gold SHIP or private insurance). Eligible students areautomatically enrolledin the dental plan andcannot opt out; however, use of the plan isnot mandatory, and students may choose to use their own outside dental coverage if preferred.

Students who arenot in qualified degree programsǰdo not hold eligible appointmentscannot opt in to this plan. For example,Law students, MBA students, and those in professional master’s programswho are not eligible for graduate appointments arenot eligiblefor this plan.

Dental plan eligibility

The Graduate Student Dental Insurance Plan is available for students on fellowship or with a graduate appointment of 20% or greater regardless of their medical insurance plan (CU Anthem Gold SHIP or private insurance).

Dental plan enrollment

CU 91Ҹ graduate students on fellowship or with a graduate appointment of 20% or greater are automatically enrolled in the Graduate Student Dental Insurance Plan once their tuition waiver is entered into Campus Solutions.

Notification of enrollment will be sent directly to students within 5 business days of the tuition waiver being entered. If students do not receive notification of their enrollment, they should first check with their employer to make sure the tuition waiver has been entered correctly and they meet the criteria for eligibility.

Please note: Students not enrolled in the Graduate Student Dental Plan will be able to elect into a dental plan offered by Guardian. To enroll in the plan, go to the Care26 portal during open enrollment and opt to enroll into the dental insurance through Guardian.

Finding a provider

You can find an in-network dental provider by visiting . Here’s how:

Step 1: Enter your Member ID prefix (BKJ) into the search menu at . Click “Search”.

Step 2: Select your city, county or zip code in the top right search bar.

Step 3: Search for providers by:

  • Entering a specialty, name or National Provider Identifier (NPI) into the search bar
  • Selecting “Dental Professionals” option from the bottom menu

Step 4: Explore providers available in your city or county. Select “View Details” to view more information about a particular provider.
