Located at 2900 m (9500 feet) in the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies, the Mountain 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó Station is an interdisciplinary facility associated with the Ìýproviding research and educational opportunities for scientists, students, and the general public.
Saturday morning winter programs 2026
Please join us for a winter experience at the Mountain 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó Station! Programs start atÌý10:00 amÌýon select Saturdays throughout the winter and spring 2026, beginning in February.ÌýAll are open to the public. Each program runs ~2 hours and has space for 20 people.Ìý
Sign up is required to reserve your spot. Additional details will be emailed to attendees one week prior to the program.
Join ornithologist and MRS director Dr. Scott Taylor for a guided birding walk around the MRS campus. Learn how the Taylor Lab uses the station to study chickadee cognition and hybridization, and look for subalpine winter birds.
Snowshoe tour to the nearby Niwot SNOTEL station, a meteorological station for measuring snow pack in the alpine. Stick around after the hike for a brief presentation on future snowpack trends.

Join Dr. Scott Taylor for a guided walk to learn about local Rocky Mountain mammals. We’ll look for tracks and other signs of wildlife around the MRS campus, and talk about what those clues tell us about which animals are nearby and how they survive snowy winters.
