Our commitment includes engaging with faculty who assist us in this work.&nbsp;The IRB has been experiencing significant backlogs in reviewing submissions, jeopardizing the timely completion of research projects. Informed by valuable input provided by faculty, an IRB working group has developed a plan to improve turnaround times and reduce backlogs.&nbsp;</p><hr><p>Key updates include:</p><h2>Principal Investigator (PI) Eligibility</h2><ul><li><strong>All Graduate Students</strong>&nbsp;are eligible to serve as Principal Investigators (PI) for their research studies. A faculty advisor is still required.</li><li><strong>Undergraduate Students&nbsp;</strong>may not act as PIs. Undergraduate research must be submitted by a faculty member who will assume the PI role.</li><li><strong>Exempt Categories:</strong>&nbsp;<strong><a href="/researchinnovation/irb/investigator-resources/forms-templates" rel="nofollow">Exempt protocol and consent form templates</a></strong>&nbsp;are now available on the IRB webpage.
