Student Life Strategic Roadmap

Vice Chancellor for Student Life Dr. D’Andra Mull

Hello Academic Affairs partners,ÌýÌý

I wanted to begin by expressing my sincere appreciation for the teaching, mentoring, advising, scholarship and serviceÌýyou provide that shapes our students’ academic journeys at CU 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó. Your work is an important part of the holistic student experience that empowers our Buffs to learn, flourish, and prepare for what comes next.ÌýSummer offers us an opportunity to reflect on ourÌýshared work across Academic Affairs and Student Life to identifyÌýways we can strengthen our commitment toÌýexcellence in our students, staff, and our organization.Ìý

In keeping with our focus on the student experience, I am pleased to share with you Division of Student Life’s new Strategic Roadmap, which will guide us from 2026 through 2030. The roadmap centers our students, affirms our role in supporting every Buff beyond the classroom, and reinforces our commitment to partnering closely with you to advance holistic student success.ÌýÌý

Priorities and CommitmentsÌý

Our Student Life mission centers on an unwavering commitment to student success and holistic well-being. We shape moments that matter by turning everyday interactions into meaningful opportunities for self-discovery, connection, belonging and growth.Ìý

Student Life’s Strategic Roadmap holds these commitments and is rooted in three priority areas: Student Excellence, Staff Excellence and Operational Excellence. In Student Excellence, we are extending learning, engagement and belonging beyond the classroom in ways that reinforce CU 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó’s academic mission. This includes expanding co-curricular learning opportunities throughout the student's journey, aligning learning and development offerings with university outcomes, and connecting students to transformative experiences design to strengthen belonging, improve retention and support long-term student success.ÌýÌý

Much of this work is already underway through initiatives like Residential Learning Communities and CU Beyond 1. We have a strong foundation in first-year programs that support a successful transition, and CU Beyond 1 builds on that strength by extending the student experience and supporting continued engagement, skill building and making the most of their time at CU. As we look ahead, we are eager to continue collaborating with academic partners to further integrate co-curricular learning, helping students make meaning of their experiences and translate the skills they gain and prepare for academic, personal and professional success.ÌýÌý
Ìý
We also recognize that the student experience is shaped by the people who support it each day, making investment in our staff critical to sustaining and strengthening student success. Staff Excellence advances building workplace culture, expanding professional development, and promoting inclusive and effective leadership to support staff retention and growth.Ìý

Our commitment to Operational Excellence focuses on strengthening the systems, partnerships and environments that shape the student experience. We see this work as collective and look forward to deepening collaboration with our academic partners to create seamless student-centered experiences together.ÌýÌý

I hope you to explore our roadmap and view it as a foundation for continued alignment and partnership with you and your teams. We value the opportunity to learn from one another, innovate and build on the strong collaborations already in place as we support students at each phase of their journey. If you are interested in partnering on Student Life initiatives, please email studentlife@colorado.edu.ÌýÌýÌý

Comprehensive Basic Needs DesignationÌý

I am also excited to share that CU 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó has received the from the Colorado Department of Higher Education. As part of the inaugural cohort of colleges and universities recognized through this new program, CU 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó is helping set the standard for how institutions can support students’ well-being through a holistic approach to basic needs services.Ìý

This recognition reflects our collective commitment to ensure students have access to the resources they need to thrive. CU 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó earned the Comprehensive Designation by providing services across seven additional categories. These efforts span multiple Student Life departments, including the Basic Needs Center, Student Outreach, Advocacy & Support, Career Services, Counseling & Psychiatric Services, Student Legal Services, Off Campus Life and many others working every day to support student thriving. This designation is an important milestone, but more importantly, it reflects the work happening every day across campus to help students succeed academically, personally and professionally.ÌýÌý
Ìý
Thank you again for everything you did this academic year to support our students.Ìý

Warmly,ÌýÌý
Dr. D’Andra MullÌý
