Meet the Provost

From Ann Stevens, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairsÌý

I am proud to serve as provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, a role I have held since July 2025. As provost, I oversee academic standards and excellence, and the academic experience for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty as scholars and teachers, and academic staff as key partners, along with the many constituents who engage with CU 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó’s dynamicÌýacademic mission.

The division of academic affairs includes staff and faculty leaders, faculty and staff across our colleges and schools, as well as University Libraries, Enrollment Management, Office of Undergraduate Education, Division of Student Life, Office of Faculty Affairs, the Ombuds Office and the university’s institutes.

My approach to this work is shaped by a career at major public research institutions. I earned my PhD in economics from the University of Michigan; served as a professor of economics, center director and a dean at the University of California, Davis; and most recently served as professor of economics and dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin.Ìý

At each of these institutions, I have grounded my leadership in a deep belief in the ongoing mission of research universities. The opportunity to bring together teaching and learning, service within and beyond the university, and impactful research and creative work is both exciting and full of challenges.Ìý

My leadership approach is based on listening, bringing people together for constructive dialogue, and partnering to navigate complex challenges and make informed decisions. All of these efforts should be informed by facts and data whenever possible. My commitments as provost are to lead with collegiality and collaboration, communicate openly and transparently, and face our challenges with realism, focus and confidence.Ìý

I welcome your feedback atÌývcaa@colorado.edu, and I trust that your experience with the 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó is positive, productive and truly transformational.
