CU Emergency Medical Services

CU Emergency Medical Services (CU EMS) is a student-led emergency medical service within the CU 91ÃÛÌÒ¸ó Division of Public Safety, providing pre-hospital medical care during select campus events.Ìý

The program began in 2004 and since then, CU EMS has trained hundreds of students in basic life support, hosted clinical and educational programming, and helped prepare future physicians, nurses, paramedics, and first responders. The program is partnered with the CU Anschutz Medical Campus to provide clinical oversight and adherence to professional emergency medical standards. The organization remains student-led; combining professional standards and institutional support with student initiative, leadership, and service.Ìý

CU EMS also offers non-medical involvement through our volunteer program, where students support injury prevention, harm-reduction education, AED awareness, and campus wellness outreach.Ìý

Our Values

Excellence in Care

We hold ourselves to the highest clinical standards. Every patient deserves the same quality of care, whether it's a minor injury or a life-threatening emergency.Ìý

Student Leadership

CU EMS is led by students who manage operations, lead training, mentor new EMTs, and shape the organization’s future. Professional oversight supports our work, while student initiative drives it forward.

Service to Community

We serve because this is our campus and our community. Our commitment is rooted in showing up, taking responsibility, and providing care when it matters most.

Continuous Growth

Emergency medicine is constantly evolving, and so are we. Through ongoing education, quality improvement, and a culture of feedback, we strive to improve every day.
