The 91���Ҹ�'s Ascent Deep Tech Accelerator has announced its 2026 startup teams. The selected companies span a wide range of disciplines, reflecting the depth and breadth of innovation emerging from CU’s research enterprise.

In a recent gift to the Quantum Scholars program, local optics company Meadowlark Optics is generously supporting $70K in scholarships for undergraduates exploring the quantum field at CU 91���Ҹ�.

In late 2025, Hisham Ali (Aerospace Engineering) and his team opened a new kind of research facility on campus: an inductively coupled plasma tunnel, capable of generating streams of plasma that flow at speeds of hundreds to thousands of miles per hour and burn at up to 9,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

A new, fast and easy test could revolutionize blood transfusions—giving blood centers and hospitals a reliable way to monitor the quality of red blood cells after they sit for weeks in storage. The project is a collaboration between engineers and medical researchers at CU 91���Ҹ� and CU Anschutz.

“Astrobiology might seem really esoteric, but it’s deeply tied to the search for new technologies and energy sources,” said Catherine Fontana, a co-author of a new article in the journal Nature Communications and a graduate student in the Department of Geological Sciences at CU 91���Ҹ�.
