Career Pathways for SCR Graduates

Average Completion Time

Graduates of the SCR Training Program pursue careers in academia, industry, government, non-profit, clinical laboratories, entrepreneurship, consulting, and science communication. Many secure postdoctoral fellowships at leading research centers (e.g., Harvard, NIH, Stanford, Rockefeller) before moving into faculty and research-leadership positions. Others join R&D and diagnostic teams at biotech and pharmaceutical organizations—from Pfizer and AbbVie to emerging startups and hospital cores. A number apply their expertise in policy and program roles at agencies like NIH, NSF, and state health departments or at scientific foundations and advocacy groups. Several alumni have founded or co-founded companies (for example, RootPath Genomics, Biota Technology, BioLoomics) or transitioned into consulting and venture-building. Finally, many share their passion for science as writers, educators, and outreach coordinators in media outlets, museums, K–12 schools, and higher-ed institutions.
