Accessing the ISGW cloud environment
Parts of the interactive practicals will take place on the . All that is required to access the cloud environment is a modern web browser. Students will have access to both RStudio and a command line terminal. There are more detailed instructions available.
Using the ISGW Forum
The is a message board that has been setup for discussion of all topics related to behavior genetics. It has topic categories for general BG questions. Everybody, whether attending the Workshop or not, is invited to join the forum to discuss behavior genetic topics.There is a brief introduction to using the forum.
Pre-recorded lectures
Pre-recorded lectures are available on the . See each day of the syllabus for a list of which videos to watch ahead of each daily session. If for any reason you are not able to access the videos on YouTube, please contact Jeff.Lessem@colorado.edu as soon as possible.
Daily live sessions on
Students registered for the course will join daily live sessions to work on the interactive practicals. You will need to have , or it can be . It is not necessary to have a Zoom account to participate in the live sessions. Registered students will be emailed links for the Zoom sessions shortly before the course starts.
Introduction to R and RStudio
If you are not familiar with R, then you should go through these or other introductions before starting the Workshop course. Extensive knowledge of R is not necessary, but some basic familiarity with it will help in understanding many of the practical exercises.
Some students really enjoy using Swirl to learn R
The first video explains how to download and install R and RStudio. This step is not necessary for the Workshop, because during the course you will use the Workshop's RStudio installed in the Workshop cloud, however you will need to install R on your own computer for use after the course. Participants are welcome to use the Workshop's RStudio to follow these tutorials once you have received your cloud credentials.
These videos refer to several sample scripts. The scripts are installed on the Workshop cluster in /home/elizabeth/2021. If you do not have access to the Workshop cluster, then the files can be downloaded from the .
